Roadrunner Region, Ramblings and website win PCA awards.

In National event by Steve Waller

The Roadrunner Region heard it’s name called several times in the awards banquets at Porsche Parade.  The region was named First Runner Up in the 2017 Ferry Porsche Award.  The Ferry Porsche Trophy was named in honor of the late Dr. Ferdinand “Ferry” Porsche and first presented at Parade in 1961. The trophy is presented to the outstanding PCA region of the year that demonstrates the highest standards in meeting the objectives and ideals of the Porsche Club of America and “In Appreciation of Loyalty to the Porsche Car and the Porsche Idea.” Historically, PCA awarded the Ferry Porsche Trophy to one region. In 2010, in an effort to recognize more regions for their outstanding achievements, the PCA Executive Council decided to award first and second runners-up for the Ferry Porsche Trophy. The award states ‘In Appreciation of Loyalty to the Porsche Car and Porsche Idea”.

The Roadrunner Region website won first place for class 3 regions (200-399 active members)  The judges for the website contest look at overall site design plus many other criteria.  News and activities, region calendar, photo galleries, officer contacts, guidelines for event management and more are all judged catagories.  The overall website winner was the Alpine Mountain Region of Colorado.  Our website collected the second most points and missed the overall win by less than 2 points.

In the newsletter contest, Ramblings took third place for class 3 regions.  This was the third year in a row the newsletter has received a national award.  First place in this class was the Prieta Post from the Loma Prieta region.  The overall winner of the “Betty Jo Turner” award was the Orange Coast region newsletter Pando.  The Orange Coast region is a class 5 region.

In the individual awards Liz Shaw took second in Class Q04L 911 (964-993) of the Technical and Historical Quiz.  Harry and Delores Season took third in Group 2 Preparation Class PP12S street 911 in their 2012 997.2 Turbo S.

Thanks to everyone to contributes to the success of our Roadrunner Region.
